Our Background

From Firm to Non-Profit: A Commitment to Impact

Initiatives for Sustainable Development (IFSD) has been driving constructive social change since 2014. Originally incorporated as a private company, IFSD evolved in line with its core mission — transitioning to a Not-for-Profit Company registered under Section 42 of the Companies Act, 2017 with the Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan (SECP) in 2024.

Headquartered in Lahore at 133-E, Etihad Town, Raiwand Road, IFSD operates with national and provincial coverage across Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and Sindh, with a deep grassroots presence in underserved districts.

Rooted in the principles of equity, justice, and social protection, IFSD bridges the gap between community-level realities and national policy frameworks, ensuring that the voices of the marginalized inform the decisions that shape their lives.

Vision, Mission & Goals

🎯

Our Vision

A just and inclusive Pakistan where no one is left behind — where every citizen, regardless of gender, age, disability, or socioeconomic status, can access their rights and live with dignity.

🚀

Our Mission

To advance access to justice, promote inclusive governance, and strengthen community resilience through evidence-based programming, policy advocacy, and legal empowerment for Pakistan's most vulnerable populations.

📌

Our Approach

IFSD combines grassroots community engagement with upstream policy influence — ensuring that evidence from the field shapes national frameworks, and that national policies translate into meaningful change at the community level.

What We Stand For

Core Values

Equity

We believe every individual deserves equal access to justice, resources, and opportunities — regardless of gender, age, disability, or social status.

Justice

We work to ensure that legal protection is not a privilege but a right — accessible, affordable, and responsive to the needs of the most marginalized.

Inclusion

Our programs are designed with and for excluded groups — women, the elderly, persons with disabilities, transgender persons, and minorities.

Accountability

We uphold the highest standards of transparency and accountability to our beneficiaries, partners, and donors in all our operations.

Integrity

We operate with honesty, consistency, and ethical commitment — our actions are aligned with our values at every level of the organization.

Innovation

We seek evidence-based, creative, and context-sensitive solutions to complex social challenges, learning continuously and adapting accordingly.

2025–2030

Strategic Direction

IFSD's five-year strategic priorities set the direction for a just, resilient, and inclusive Pakistan.

1

Elderly Rights and Protection

Institutionalizing legal, psychosocial, and social protection mechanisms for aging populations — including developing a national aging policy framework — to address the acute gap in elderly rights programming in Pakistan.

2

Strengthening Access to Justice

Expanding the Dastageer Legal Aid Center's mobile legal aid clinics nationwide, deepening reach into underserved districts, and building a network of community paralegals and legal champions.

3

Resilience and Climate Action

Scaling up community-based climate adaptation initiatives in flood-prone and climate-vulnerable districts, integrating climate resilience with livelihood and social protection programming.

4

Gender and Social Inclusion

Ensuring that women, elderly, youth, persons with disabilities, and minorities benefit from responsive justice systems and protection frameworks — with a focus on eliminating gender-based violence.

5

Policy Influence and Evidence-Based Advocacy

Leveraging grassroots evidence to inform national and provincial reforms aligned with UN frameworks, international human rights standards, and Pakistan's commitments under the SDGs.
